This is a quick write up of the OG Liquor store spot in South Redondo Beach called The Standing Room. The first time that I went there I realized that I had actually driven past this place over a dozen times. It is literally accessed through a liquor store. There is a small window that faces the parking lot to retrieve your order. Do not be fooled, the Chef in this joint is hardcore serious about making one of the most unique hamburgers and other eats that you will find anywhere in California. Definitely a foodies must eat spot. In addition to their hamburgers, they have fried chicken, Shishito peppers and other Korean/Asian inspired eats. Do not come with any prejudices, come with an open mind and a empty stomach and you won’t be sorry. So glad it’s nearby.
Here are some of the menu items: Edamame Hummus with Rosemary chips, Spicy Meat Ball sub, Big kahuna with Kaluha pork hamburger party two prices teriyaki marinated spam and a egg, Korean BBQ Pork Ribs, Orange Chicken Sammie, Kimchee mac and cheese, Crab chowder, Korean beef bowl. All worth trying out.
When you come, park wherever you can, and be patient, orders can take quite a while in this tiny kitchen but its well worth the wait. To order (other the calling ahead) walk inside of the liquor store and go to the counter in the back, not the liquor store register. It works, its unique and it’s good.
