This is just a quick post about the fortune of having fresh honey and the appreciation for local bee keepers. In this case, our friend Andrew Ward has taken it upon himself to cultivate and care for his own colony of bees here in Southern California. To Bee specific, they are European Honey Bees (Apis Mellifera) and non-native to California. Who says Angelinos are all self absorbed yuppies who don’t care for the planet or anything that is good. I don’t! Andrew, a Filmmaker by trade, is also an accomplished photographer (THE SOFAS OF L.A.), yet this hobby is one that I am most impressed with. If I had the space I too would make this a mission, because as you know the plight of the bees is directly tied to our own survival, and people had better take notice. The bee population is diminishing and its of utmost importance that we do as much as we can to help claw back these numbers. So, cheers to you Andrew and thanks on behalf of the bees, and thanks again for the honey. This honey goes great drizzled over just about anything and I mean anything. As I write this, we are using it in a Lamb Shank with Apricots dish. Can’t wait.
For those of you who have been inspired, I have included a couple links for you to get started at your own home. Good luck, I commend you.
